1. Portland International Film Festival
Portland International Film Festival is the biggest film event in Oregon, drawing over 30,000 each February. Audiences can check out the premiers of more than 100 shorts and feature films from around the world.Where: Check back for 2009 locations.

How much: General admission is $8.
2. NW Film and Video Festival
Shorts, features and documentaries are chosen by well-known filmmakers such as Gus Van Sant and Simpsons creator Matt Groening. The panel will choose about 30-45 films during the festival, after which a handful of them are selected for the Best of the Northwest Tour program which travels the following year throughout the Northwest.When: November 7 - 15, 2008

How much: $7 for general admission. $40 for a festival pass.
3. 10 or Less Fest
The tagline for this festival is Because 15 minutes of fame is too much. Its perfect for anyone with a short attention span or those of us who arent sure were film fest types. If you see a terrible movie, just wait a few minutes and it will be over.Where: Hollywood Theater, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd

How much: Admission to any single film is $7. An all-pass is $20.
4. GLB Film Festival
Cinema 21 hosts this 10-day festival. Show your support for Portlands lesbian and gay community. You can purchase tickets in advance at PDX Ticket Network at 4122 NE Sandy Blvd. (at the Hollywood Theatre) or go to the Online Box Office. 5. Reel Music Festival
A celebration of music on film, with movies about well-known artists to intriguing and little-known musicians. The films will cover a wide variety of genres, from classic rock and pop to folk, soul and jazz.Where: Whitsell Auditorium, 1219 SW Park Ave, Portland
When:January 9 – 31
How much: $8 General, $7 PAM Members, students and seniors, $5 for Friends of the Film Center. Double features are an additional $2 per ticket.
