Question: Where can I get online for free in the city of Portland?
Answer: The Personal Telco Project, a non-profit group, used to offer free wireless Internet. However, as of summer 2008, the project has ended.
The following information is about this DISCONTINUED project.
It started with individuals setting up "nodes" in their homes and now it has spread to parks, businesses, and many public spaces.
Why do they do it? Because they believe that free wi-fi is both "cool and empowering." Sweet!
To find a node near you, log onto the Personal Telco Website.
